Dave Casey Hits Surfers Paradise for the 2022 Gold Coast 500
he final stop for the 2022 Haltech V8 SuperUte Series saw Dave Casey and the team head to QLD’s Surfers Paradise for the 2022 Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500. The streets of Surfers Paradise hosted the final four races of the series across the weekend, with the high-speed 3km-long street circuit making for the perfect exclamation point on a spectacular 2022 season.

The Bendix Racing Isuzu D-Max’s first Gold Coast outing kicked off on Friday morning with a practice session to allow Dave to get comfortable with the demanding street circuit layout. Practice saw Dave go 11th fastest out of the pack, hampered by a throttle issue during the session. The weekend’s qualifying session took place on the Friday afternoon, with Dave picking up a P11 Quali result to round out the day.

Saturday’s action saw Race 1 and 2 of the weekend with Dave starting the day on high, landing himself in the Top 10 with a P10 finish for Race 1 after 8 hard-fought laps of Surfers Paradise. The day got even better from there, with Dave knocking out his best result of the season with a P5 finish for Race 2.

Sunday proved to be slightly more challenging for the team, with a spin at Turn 1 in Sunday morning’s Race 3 hampering Dave’s outing, resulting in a P10 finish. The final race of the weekend saw Dave etch out a spot in the Top 10 yet again, taking the D-Max home to a P9 finish for Race 4.

The weekend’s culminated efforts saw Dave earn an impressive P9 outright result for the final round of the season. With that, Dave wraps up the 2022 V8 SuperUtes Series with a P6 championship result and a total of 878 points – a huge result for Dave’s maiden season. Not only that, but Dave also won himself the new 2022 Sportsmanship Award, a well-earned cherry on top to cap off an outstanding rookie year.
With the 2022 V8 SuperUtes Series in the books, 2023’s six-event calendar is currently in the works and will be announced in due time. Dave Casey will continue to drive the Bendix Racing Isuzu D-Max SuperUte into 2023.
