2023 V8 SuperUte Series Round 4 – Bendix Racing Round Wrap-Up
he fourth round of the 2023 V8 SuperUte Series saw Dave Casey and team Bendix Racing head down to Melbourne for the 2023 Penrite Oil Sandown 500. Sandown International Motor Raceway was scheduled to host four races across the entire weekend. After a tough outing at the previous round, Dave and the team were keen to make up some ground in the newly repaired Bendix Racing Dmax Superute.
A practice session would kick off the V8 SuperUte action on Friday which would see Dave etch out a spot in the Top 10 with the tenth fastest lap on the grid thanks to a 1m23.02s best time. Qualifying for the weekend would take place later in the afternoon which would see Dave earn a P12 qualifying result after suffering from power-steering issues to round out Friday’s SuperUtes activity.
Race 1, 2 and 3 would take place on Saturday with the first race of the weekend scheduled for the early hours of the morning. The team would have the issues all fixed before the green lights would go out on Race 1, which would see the beginning of some impressive results for Dave’s Saturday. Race 1 would see Dave fight into the Top 10 with a P10 result after 10 laps of Sandown. Race 2 would kick away later in the afternoon with Dave claiming four positions from his qualifying result and crossing the chequered flag in P8.
Race 3 capped off Saturday’s efforts and would be Dave’s standout race for the weekend. After some hard-fought battles across the 10-lap affair, Dave would earn his best result for the weekend and claim five places to a P7 finish. The final race of the weekend would take place Saturday morning and would see Dave earn yet another Top 10 finish, rounding an outstanding weekend of racing with a P9 finish.
The 2023 V8 SuperUte Series continues in just over two weeks when the team heads to New South Wales for the 2023 Repco Bathurst 1000 from October 5-8.
