Bathurst 2024 debuts Barnsey's Trailer and Truck Sale V8 TRITON
t felt fantastic to shake off the rust and get back into the groove on the first day at Bathurst. We qualified in P12 to kick off the weekend, and we were eager to gain some ground during the races. The competition has really ramped up after a year away from the track. Jade, my mechanic and engineer, and I aimed for a top 10 finish, so we were right where we wanted to be.
In Race 1 at Bathurst, I got caught up in an incident at Turn 1, which set us back significantly due to some steering damage. However, we fought our way back and executed some of the best overtakes I’ve ever done in the Utes, finishing in P11. Overall, we were pretty satisfied! With our sights set on Saturday, we felt ready to claw back a few positions.
Race 2 didn’t start well, as I lost several spots in a couple of incidents. But we managed to pull off some great passes. Unfortunately, I had a heavy crash while pushing hard; I passed a car just before entering Macfilamey Park, which compromised my line. I hit the curb and ended up in the sand, spinning out. I was gutted for the team and my amazing sponsors. The crew took the car back to Sydney immediately to start a chassis swap so we’ll be ready for Gold Coast! Despite the disappointment, I can hold my head high; the Bathurst weekend showcased some of my best and most aggressive driving in the Utes. Doing it in a new car after a year off is something we can all be proud of.
See you all at Gold Coast!
